Hi guys, yep... another of my format stories

When I bought my laptop(dv5-1199e) it came with Vista premium(32-bit), after I upgraded it to Win 7 (32-bit). All was well, now just a few hours ago I formatted my HDD(I did not format the Recovery drive) and did a clean install of Win 7 (32-bit). All seemed good, until I noticed that I couldn't adjust the brightness of my screen by pressing fn+f7/f8, later I noticed that my Graphics card only has 12mb of Ram, so in the end I came to the conclusion that I need to install the drivers. Now, the thing is, I could download them from the HP site and try.. but my internet is very slow and very limited, so I asked myself "why don't I just restore it back to Vista using the Recovery drive option) and upgrade to Win 7 again? that should do it" So I restarted the laptop, pressed F11, but it showed "F11 - Recovery" and then nothing happens. it just simply loads win 7 without doing anything

Any Idea on how I can get the recovery drive to work and do the restore again?

Any assistance shall be greatly appreciated! :)

    Thank you for the reply!

but unfortunately after I install it, I still get the "F11 - Recovery" and then nothing happens :(

However, I do notice on the install location there's an executable program called "Master Boot Record Installation"(look at pic), Is there anything I need to do here?

I thumbnailed that picture for you :)

I'm not sure but that VBscript file probably contains commands for the MBR.exe. Why it fails to work, that I don't know.

That's the problem, it should have worked automatically. Did you ran the software with administrator rights? Can't think anything else right now.

For about $20.00USD, I would consider just purchasing the actual recovery media from HP specifically for your laptop. To be truthful with you here; you probably should have created those HP recovery disks from the beginning, before doing anything else.
