    Is the graphics card in this 20.1'' (512MB ATI(TM) Mobility Radeon(TM) HD 2600 XT ) significantly better than the Dx10 Nvidia ones?

    There's a lot of debate around, but the 2600 XT should perform similarly to a 8600m GT. I fail to see how the HDX is even considered a laptop. At 20.1" and almost 20 pounds, you might as well buy a fragbox and a monitor.

    HDX is considered a laptop for just one reason.. mobility. Though it won't be easy to move this huge thing that easy, its still all in one package.. hence in the laptop category.

    You seem to be missing the whole point. Can you build a system that is as portable with an 8800GTX for less?

    I think he wants the 8800GTX with reasonable price tag.. not the portability with insane price tag.
