I've been looking at the lower-end laptops Compaq offers, the V2000Z and V5000 series, and specifically the V5000Z. The thing I have heard most is that the battery life on these cheaper models is bad unless you get a 12cell battery.

The other thing I've come across that is that these tend to heat up. I do a lot of typing so I was wondering if heat like this in the keyboard/palm rest area is annoying.

It'd be great if somebody who owns or has owned one of these would share their experiences--good and bad. Thanks!
