    Hi guys,

I am considering buying a laptop for 'development' work (mostly Visual Studio 2010, lots of Virtual Machines... possible hackintosh) in .NET and iPhone/iPad.

I was initially set on getting a MacBook Pro 17 but considering the Windows on a Mac (via Boot Camp) is still hacky and un reliable.

Hence I am looking at the Envy laptops.

I am waiting for HP to release the SB cpu models and then make a decision.

My questions is: Does the laptop get hot when used extensively (non gaming)? Does the palm rest get hot? How about the keyboard?

Also, are the air intake, exhaust vents on the side or at the bottom (making it difficult to use the laptop on a bed.)

    Regards,
    Karan Misra

I take it since you referred to looking at a mac 17 that you are wanting to know about the envy 17 issues only?

The Envy 14 stays nice and cool, even after playing games for a few hours.

I heard that the 17 only has one large fan to cool the CPU/GPU, instead of 2 like the 14.
