Recommend to clean up the laptop fan and replace the thermal paste with higher quality equivalent.

Just make sure you take your time with the whole process of disassembly. This has been mentioned more than once, and I experienced this myself. To get to the CPU and fan, you literally need to take the whole thing apart. Take your time, be patient and be careful with the delicate parts of the laptop, then you will be good to go.

P.S. Look for the manual, it details you the steps to remove all the pieces, it is of great help when doing this.

Welll...its kinda annoying to have to remove piece by piece. The usual tricky parts are the keyboard, mouse, screen connectors. But you need to be careful handling the disassembly overall. If you don't feel confident enought then don't try, have someone with more experience in laptop repairs and be safe. It took me a good 2-3 months to go ahead and take the lil beast apart, but at least I can tell u I resolved the issues I had, my screen was wobbling, now its stiff as the first day and had to clean the vents.

Check out the manual here. Its for the DV5-1000US since I can't guess which model you own.

Because the way in to the cpu is from the above. Bottom cover is like a cup holding the pieces together and components are layered on it.
