I am going to purchase a Hp DV2000t, since it is fairly small i was just wondering if owners of DV2000t has any heating issues....like the laptop gets to hot to type like the mac pro book where the laptop gets really hot to set on a lap. I mean does it get really hot to the point where you cant put it on ur lap or causes discomfort and sweating palms after 2-5hrs?
Thank You for your comments i really appreciate it!

No, it does not. The only time it gets hot is during gaming. Other than that, Word Processing, Internet work, it is cool to the touch.

When your gaming does it get hot as to the point where touching or typing the laptop is unbearable?

No it does not. Only if you are gaming for like maybe 3 hours at ultra high settings, it will get pretty hot, and even though it is hot, it is in no way unbearable. An example might be Half Life 2, playing it at nearly maxed out settings, at native res for 2- 3 and a half hours, the laptop's left palm wrest will get hot. Not unberable, but hot. But doing normal tasks, it stays cool, quiet, and efficient.

Thank you for your help, really appreciate it
Umm i was wondering how long do you get with your battery(6-cell) since i am planning on getting a 6-cell with just surfing the web, writing papers or chatting? so i guess just on average. And also does your hard drive or ur leftside of the laptop make that high pitch beeping noise that the DV6000t has? Thank You again you've been a great help!

No, the harddrive makes no beeping noise in my machine. I think I get about 2 and a half hours on my 6-Cell, with Screen brightness at the 3rd to highest brightness lvl. Listening to music, writing on word, going on the internet. I think at lowest settings, with no music, no internet, I think i can get 3 hours.

Because the main reason i bought a laptop was to use in college and the DV6000t is heavier than i thought and not as portable. The only difference between the DV6000t and Dv2000t is the graphics card and i dont really need a good graphics since i only play low end games like warcraft and the graphics card that comes with the DV2000t is good enough. Overall i think that the Dv6000t is too heavy and big to carry around to school, cafes and friends' house in a backpack. also the DV2000t looks a lot nice and sleeker, but i really like its portability, the DV6000t is actually big to move around if you tried.

How would you guys determine your fan is spinning or not other than hearing? I mean I my hearing is really not that sensitive or my environment is too noisy. I hear no different from 48C~61C of my machine.

Is there any app to show the fan is spinning or not?

The fan port is at the bottom/back left. just make sure its reasonably clear. If you use it in bed its a good idea to place something stiff under the vent, to keep it free of bed linens.

The Geforce video is very slightly hotter running than the integrated, but is easily worth it for the tweakability and extra speed.

Hi, I just got the dv2000 with 1.8Ghz duo processor. The Hdd gets really hot in just 30 min. I have seen the same problem in another 3 dv2000 laptop. Can you tell me whether you are facing this problem?
