    It works okay with F.03(the original BIOS) so it is not RAM.

    Yes i contacted them at time, got no answer. Doesn't surprise me when i was trying to buy a DV7 model different from this one but that only existed in France and Germany only after 3 times they contacted me.

    So, what is in the new BIOS updates that you need such that you can no longer run F.03?

    My e-sata external disk sometimes stops working and i was expecting that one of this upgrades would fix it.

    Perhaps there is an updated eSATA driver. Or even going into device manager and uninstalling the eSATA driver under storage controllers. Make sure you check delete driver check box.

    Reboot. Then after it boots up, go back to the device manager and hit scan for hardware changes under the action menu. You may not need to do this as windows will reinstall the driver automatically.

    There doesn't appear to be any fix for eSATA issues in any of the BIOS updates after F.03.

    The other issue could be the SATA controller in the external enclosure.
