Hello everyone. i got problems on my v2000z can someone please help me?
I got a v2000z with turion 1.8ghz and an hd fujitsu 100gb, the problem is that HD is with low random access.
It started after i was playing Need 4 Speed: Most Wanted, it became slowly and i restarted the computer then i run the HWinfo program and it showed to me low random access (was 1mb/s). When i play music it became very slow, i tried defrag and other stuff but nothing helps.
This is the second time this happen, the first time i did defrag and that fixed the problem, but now it doesnt work.
I want know if someone share knowledge about programs like pc health for hard drive, what should i do to fix my problem?
Thanks you very much
sorry for bad english (Brazilian)

I found I was having the same problem with my dv5000.. I think HP are trash and thats what you can blame it on. If you still can take your notebook back and buy something non HP/Compaq

The problem is that you only have 512MB of RAM, 128MB of which is reserved for your GPU leaving 384MB for Windows. That's causing Windows to make heavy use of virtual memory, which is bad in general and awful with a 4200RPM HD.
Buy more memory. Increasing your total memory to 1GB will do. That will make a HUGE difference. -
i dont know if that is the problem
i m running the graphics card at 32mb memory and it still low random access my hard drive,
someone know a great tool to fix hd problems and check the hd health and status??
thanks

Do you know of anyone around you can who can let you borrow more RAM just to test to see if the memory is an issue?

It's still probably the issue. The games you listed take up huge amounts of memory, and Windows is still using much/most of the available memory for itself. These days 1GB is a good minimum. Reducing your video memory to 32MB is going to cause game performance problems too. Games use video memory for texture buffering.
If you can, buy a single 1GB PC3200 SODIMM, Crucial brand ideally, and replace your HP-supplied PC2700 SODIMMs. That will give shared-memory GPUs like yours an additional boost.
The best HD diagnostic program out there is SpinRite. Amazing program. It's a bit expensive though. -
you can use hd tune to check the status on your hd...i don't know if it has any tools to fix your problems.

Run HD tune and show us the screenshot. Could you please check the IDE controller of the HDD and tell us what the transfer mode is? Device manager/ IDE Controller, Primary IDE channel. It should be Ultra DMA Mode 5. If it went to PIO, then here's the problem
