    Help!! Notebook keep shutting down

    I have a DV9310 notebook, It keep shutting down and restart since this morning, I turn on my notebook this morning boot ok till kick in to the windows screen it pop up " CONFIGURING UPDATES : STAGE 3 OF 3 0% DO NOT TURN OFF YOUR COMPUTER " stay about 1 minute then then another pop up " winsdow is shutting down " then it automaticly shut down and restart and keep saying CONFIGURING UPDATES: STAGE 3 OF 3 0% DO NOT TURN OFF YOUR COMPUTER then SHUT DOWN and restart it back the same message, I tried to press F8 to boot into safemode and come up the same as regular boot, anyway I can boot back into windows and retore the system.

    Might be time to repair the windows installation by booting from DVD/CD.

    Did anyone have the same problems and what did you do ? Do I have to re-install the windows.

    Trying tapping the F11 key and entering the recovery manager. Then in the recovery manger go into advanced options and you should be able to try the system restore or startup repair from there.

    Thanks Anonhp, I taped F11 and restored the system back.
    Did anyone had the sams problem as mine, Notebook kept shutting down and restarting " CONFIGURING UPDATES: STAGE 3 OF 3 0% DO NOT TURN OFF YOUR PC then about 1 minute another poped up WINDOWS IS SHUTTING DOWN then shut down and automaticly restarted back kept doing this none stop, Is that one of the Windows Vista update? If yes, I will having the same problem in the future any ways We can stop this because I do not want to restore the system again, I lost alots of important files when I restored the system last night, Will someone show me how to fix this problem, THANKS !!!!

    Did you have SP1 for vista already because this happened to a good number of people when they tried to run the SP1 update on their system. Most of the time after a restore they had no problem running the update afterwards. If you can its a good idea to use msconfig and disable any non essential startup programs and services before trying to run the update.
