My Pavilion ze4400 laptop has failed. [xx(] It was working fine, then this morning it would not turn on.

The notebook is completely dead-- there is no power light, the LED showing the power cord is plugged in does not come on. No other lights or beeps or anything. I tried the reset button on the bottom, pulled and reinstalled the battery--no response. I tested the power cord with my multimeter and it shows the laptop is getting power.

I find it strange that it would fail suddenly with no warnings. Are there any known problems with this series of laptops? Could this be the power supply or motherboard? I don't know where to look first!

BTW, It is 3 weeks out of warranty. [V]

    Thank for any help,

    jay

If no lights are coming on when on AC, then it could be the power connector on the notebook that's defective. Try running on battery only and see what happens. If still no power, then it's likely your systemboard that needs replacing. Since it's out of warranty, you may want to check eBay for a working systemboard for this unit (must be similar model to yours to be compatible).
