The HP Battery Checker crashes when I start it...

The Recovery wont work, it says theres disc errors, try running Disk Check...

So I run Disk Check and I get an error saying it cannot complete Disk Check...

Call them and demand a new one. That one stopped working.

Turn off your Laptop, Hold Power + Beats button for 2mins (Time it and make sure its actually held) Reboot if it still doesnt detect your battery or w.e call hp and demand a new battery.

Since my first post is gone...

I have previous gen Envy 15. The one without optical drive...

I was able to perform disk check which said it corrected some errors. It then said to run chkdsk c:/f to fix the rest.

But when I do this, its says something like 'Unable to perform, needs to be in elevated mode"

I have Admin and UAC off.

After a day I noticed my batt power dropped to 94% and now the icon says "Plugged in, not charging"

I got Battery Check to work, but it says "an error was encountered accessing the battery".

Any help here? Im guessing my batt. is fine but theres some sort of software issue...

Cycle your batt a few more times. By that I mean, charge it up to >90% then run it down to about 20%. Repeat. If by that time you still have issues, contact HP.

I cant cycle the batt since the computer wont run on just the batt. That is the whole reason for this thread!

I tried removing and reinstalling the batt. a few times. It appears that its not charging at all. The icon indicates "not charging" and it dropped from 100% to 94% over the last 2 days. It still dies as soon as AC is unplugged.

I really dont want to call HP just yet. They will probably just try to sell me a new battery, which is exactly what Im trying to avoid. Yes, its out of warranty.

Then you're pretty much out of luck.

Only other thing I can suggest is to uninstall the ACPI driver for the battery.

Go into device manager, find battery, then uninstall the ACPI control method battery driver by right clicking it an uninstall. Then reboot. It will reinstall the driver.

You need to Right-Click on your command prompt and select Run as administrator.
