The problem started about a month ago when the computer refused to power up (lights were on only).
Now, computer froze, would not boot up the same way.
If I tap on the top slightly, it will start booting up, but then will freeze again.
When windows bar (indicator of windows loading) stopps moving, and I tap on the cover of hard drive, it will continue to move for a second and then stop again. If I tap again, it will move again. This way I loaded windows!
After windows loaded, the computer was and is currently working fine for 2 hours. I uninstalled all the major applications and deleted all my music and everything else, and defragmented the hard drive.
WHAT CAN BE WRONG???? why does it not go to the splash screen sometimes??? and other times works fine for hours? Why does it react to tapping on the case?
It''s not overheating, the windows software doesn't seem to have any problem!
What can be wrong?
If I send it for repairs, will they be able to diagnose it since it only happens occasionally? What can I expect from repairs?
All ideas are welcome! What could be the problem???
Thanks!

Perhaps re-seating the memory and hard drive will help.

what does resetting do??? why would it help? resetting should fix something that doesnt work at all, right? the machine sometimes works perfectly. doesnt it already indicate that resetting is not an issue?
thanks for a thought though... -
Something may not be making the proper contact in there. Then you nudge it and it starts to work. Probably not the case, but a good place to start. I have seen it work from time to time.

ZaZ means re-seating the memory and HD, not resetting. Because its like fixing a computer when it doesnt post/startup. By taking the computer apart then putting it back together. with the laptop the most you can normally take apart and put back together is the memory and the hard drive. Also, another thing that it could be is the bios battery might be dieing. Try replacing it if the other method doesnt work.

Just to update. I contacted customer service and had the unit sent in for repair. It returned on the morning of the second day. The service log indicated repair with the main board. It did not cost me anything, and the unit is working with no complaints ever since.
