What is going on here?? I just tried to plug a brand new Microsoft Comfort Optical Mouse 3000 into one of the 2 USB ports on my new Compaq Presario v3000 and it would not fit! So I tried the other port, no fit!

Then I tired my digital camera, followed by another mouse, followed by a USB hub and still none of my devices will fit into either of the USB ports. They just simply do not even insert.

    Help me please!

Yes, several times. It is like trying to draw blood from a stone, just no go on both ports.

This is the first time since I brought the laptop that I tried to use the ports, so they have not been in use before. I just dont understand what is going on, was there a new USB technology that was released that I did not know about?

My DV6000 is similar, it takes a little prodding to get a USB in. Not coincidentally, the mouse button appears off and the battery latch gets stuck in the middle. I believe the entire casing is off, and I will be taking it back.

OK nevermind guys I fixed it! I just had to kind of hold my breath and ram it into the USB port. Working fine now, these things must be kind of stubborn when they are new ;)

    Thanks for your help!

Yeah, I thought the same thing when I first put in my jumpdrive.

It felt like I was going to break the end right off.

You know its slightly scary like that... I mean if you need that much force its bound to make something budge or bend and that will probably be the solder joints on the USB connector >_<

Also if you think its the right way and it is really going in wrong then you force it you might break it

Naaaah. I don't think it required that much force. He just got his notebook. He still has that "mild touch". I'm like that too whenever I get something new. Not even the slightest bump, nor the smallest scratch is permitted.
