I've had my dv9000z for 3 weeks now and have been using it daily with no problems. I used it last night and shut the lid (so it should have been in hibernate mode).

This morning when I opened it and hit the power button... NOTHING

I thought maybe I let the battery get too low last night so I plugged in the AC adapter but it still wouldn't turn on and the indicator light (for AC) isn't lighting up either.

Now it's been charging for over an hour and still nothing. Does anyone have any ideas?

I bought it through Costco so returning it isn't a problem but I already transferred all my files onto it and I really don't want to have to return it.

    Thanks in advance, Tami

ewww, the power light thing doesn't sound good.

    Try the brute force resets.

    1. Hold down the power button for > 10 seconds.

if that doesn't do anything then:

    2. Unplug the ac and remove the battery, wait then reinstall them.

If those do nothing you probably have either a bad laptop or bad ac unit. Check the AC brick with a meter to be sure. My 9000t brick doesn't have a power light so I'm assuming your's doesn't either (and I wouldn't trust that anyway at this point).

    Hope this helps,

    Zany

I just experienced this problem last night. I've had my dv9000 series (dv9033cl) for about a week now and went to power it up this morning. Nothing. I powered it down normally last night. There was still at least half a battery left.

Anyways, I plugged it in and I did in fact have the blue glow around the AC outlet. Still nothing though. I pulled the battery out (blew on the connectors, this is more from habit than anything else though, there was no dust) and put it it back.

Flipped it back over and it started up normally.

I to purchased from Costco so if this happens again I'll be taking it back. Wasn't too bad this time, but if I had all my work in it I would have been freaking.

Search the forum: there is a fix for this issue. Are you using the latest BIOS (I think it's v.04)? I was having this problem, and I posted the fix somewhere here. Basically, you remove the battery, hold down the power button for 30 seconds to clear the capacitors, replace the battery, and update the BIOS. I did this and have been fine since.

I bought my dv9620 3 weeks ago. It's worked great...
    ...until3 days ago.
I powered down, I did noptice that it seemed to be taking a long time to do so.
When I went to turn it on again, the screen stayed black and there were three of the loudest "BEEEPS" I've ever heard. The sequence is this:
Beep #1= BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP" ( a long beep), followed by,
    Beep #2= Beep, and
    Beep #3= Beep
And on the left side of my notebook, there is a "Digital Media Slot" that has one of the festive little blue lights. It started staying on (the light, like there was a card in there already), what would this mean?
Tech support (oh, do NOT get me started on THEM!!), had me try a "Hard Boot" i.e. unplugging and removing battery, push and hold the power button for 30 seconds, replace the battery and power cord and then try to power up.
    Nothing.
I did something really dumb; I didn't get around to making any disks, so I am TRYING to find a boot disk or recovery disc online. Can anyone please help me?
I am 45 years old and confined to a nursing home. This computor allows me to get back a wee bit of my life. This place is no fun and, oh yeah, old people smell bad.
    Thanks in advance
    Bob
