The 3 times flash is a clue that something is physically wrong with the notebook. Try reseating the hard drive and RAM, and if that does not work then you'll probably have to call HP.

If the problem persists after you reseat the HDD and RAM, then try this:

Take out the battery, remove the Power Cord, and hold the Power Button down for 10-20seconds. Now connect the battery and power cord and try restarting it.

If this doesn't work, then you'll have to send the laptop in for repair.

From owning HP laptops i know when i see that lighting bolt flash like that that means that the Battery is DEAD. You need to plug the laptop into an AC adapter and let the Batt. Charge.

EDIT: Make sure that the AC Cords are plugged into the outlet and in the laptop properly...And that the outlet is actually working. You should see a light on the AC Adapter if it's getting power from the outlet.

HP must have changed the design of their AC adapters because the 90W AC adapter that came with my DV6775US doesn't have any indicator on it. The only indication that it is working is the blue light at the power input on the laptop.

^^^ Okay cool..well in that case he can plug something else in the outlet that he plans to use to provide power to the notebook just to make sure it works!
