OK, so I just got an HP Pavilion dv2315nr a few days ago and hooked it up to a new Gateway 22" flat panel monitor. The display stinks, I am getting tons of flicker. The notebook screen displays fine.

    1. I have two of the flat panel monitors and have tried connecting the notebook to both, still flickers
    2. I have connected both of the flat panel monitors to another PC and they display fine.
    3. Due to 1 and 2, I am convinced the issue is the HP notebook, not the external monitor.
    4. I am trying to use 1680x1050 resolution (75 hertz), but would be happy with just about anything that doesn't flicker like crazy right now.
    5. I have tried a bunch of the resolution settings and none of them get rid of the flicker.
    6. I have updated the NVIDIA GeForce Go 6150 driver has been updated to 7.15.10.9815 (2/27/2007)

Has anyone else seen this issue and have any idea on how to fix it?
    Thanks,
    Dan

    Use 60Hz with LCD monitors.

you,re connecting to the monitor with dvi or d-sub?

i've had a similar problem... and solved it by buying a better cable... the new one has some new foam injection insulation... no flicker anymore.

Yeah, I totally second that... I was using the cable that came with my 22" Samsung to connect to a notebook (lenovo y410)... then I tried a different cable and no more flicker... it's gone.

I had a similar issue with my dv9500t. It was the power strip I was using. I had to rip off the ground plug (long thin thing at end of cable that plugs into the wall). Once I did that, the flickering stopped. I just used pliers to rip it off.

But then again this might have been a different issue. See whenever I ran on battery power, the flickering would stop on the external monitor. thats how i knew it had something to do with power.

I am having the exact same problem. different model HP laptop (dv2416us) different model monitor (acerx223w) (widescreen 22") (running 1680x1050)

same nvidia geforce 6150 video adapter.

the driver I have is from 2/2007. the connection is dsub, (no dvi on this laptop)

    flicker, wavering lines. very annoying

I am going to try updating to whatever new driver HP has on their site. I am not clear on driver updates on laptops and whether I need to use what HP sends out, or whether I can get a driver from nvidia. I went to the nvida website, and they seemed to indicate that their drivers for laptops are modified by manufacturere

Get one of those 3 prong to 2 prong adaptors and place it between your power strip and the wall outlet. You like me most likely have wiring problems in your house. (Ground fault loop)?

I used the adaptor and my flickering on my 22" Acer LCD is gone

boffo, I have the same exact monitor....

P.S. I actually placed the adaptor between my monitor and the power strip so that my laptop would still be grounded...

Well, I know this thread is a little old .. HOWEVER, I had to say thanks because your solution of breaking off the ground prong fixed my flickering problem on my DV9220us!!

I tried changing to a different power supply (iGO) and it still flickered. I am on an APC battery backup so the power is clean and there is no wiring fault (UPS checks). Broke the ground prong off (even though a different power supply didn't work, I thought it was pointless) and all is well in dual monitor land.

    Thanks!
