For some reason our hp dv5000 laptop started shutting off at random, you will be working on something and all of a sudden the thing goes blank??? Does anyone have an idea what could be wrong??? Thanks, Jonathan

Hmm I had experience random shutoff. The cause for my random shutoff is I had very dusty heatsink and fan. I used a air compress can to blast it away, and it works normal ever since.

Random shut downs could indicate possible accumulation of dust within the notebook. Read the notebook cooling guide for more info.
