    Ive Got A Problem with my Compaq Presario B1900 Notebook.. it is more likely to heat up when using a 3d application..after a few minutes..the notebook crashes.. i dont really knw wats the problem because it is not like this when i bought it.. pls give some advice.. :((

    i am already using a cooling pad ryt now...

    It could be a number of things, but I think the heating is your best bet. Hop on Google and download HWMonitor. Let us know what the temperature read outs are.

    Most likely the heatsink is clogged with dust by now. Find the service guide on hp.com, take it apart and clean it out. Or try blowing it out with compressed air (less effective). Checking temps with HWMonitor as Infamous22 said will confirm that.

    Those temperatures are in Celsius. Once converted to Fahrenheit the temperatures read about 170-176 average. That's pretty high! As Brian previously mentioned, you probably have an inadequate flow of cool air to the internal components of your notebook. The notebook will shut down automatically to prevent damage to the CPU when an abnormal amount of heat is detected. Make sure the fans are clean and the airways are not obstructed.

    well the original problem was fixed, the motherboard but they messed up the (perfect condition) back cover of the LCD and palm rest and other things they did
    I mean I thought I would just get it repaired carefully, now I have to wait a week or two because of some careless repair-man

    i updated my BIOS and that fixed the problem..because the new BIOS is intended for cooling the cpu..thank u so much..i cleaned all the air vents and the heat sink..now the problem was fixed..thanks 4 the help..really appreciate it.. :)
