Help With My Hp Laptop!! To Hot!

Heey guys...
I need help with my HP laptop. I always play alot of games and my laptop gets very hot, I have HP Pavilion dv9000, My friends laptop ( he has an Acer (LOL)) and its never get so hot as mine do, so i was wondering what this could be.
In the picture the red circle shows where it gets hottest...
Ill like to know what that is a processor (idk how to speel it), my graficcard or something else??

dont worry, he has an Acer, yours OWNS ( that is the in vent for the CPU cooler, if you cover this then it gets hottter!!!! )

 

Well obviously gaming will increase the temperature of your laptop. How "hot" is hot though? Is it uncomfortably hot or is it warm or what? I had an old HP dv2000 which overheated really really really bad, but I doubt yours is that bad. Mine actually shut down since it got so hot.

Check your vents to see if anything is blocking them and avoid using it on your laptop or on your bed where something could potentially block them(such as sheets or clothes).

Also you can download HWmonitor to see your temperatures while you game and check which part in your laptop is heating the most. Chances are it's probably either the GPU or the HDD heating up though.

 

It is normal for that area to get hot because that is where hot air from the heatpipe is expelled. The fan sucks air in through the square vent and pushes it out through the side vents in the back and on the side.

 

Is it the processor there is sitting there????
could i mayby change it to one that doesnt get so hot?? =) thnx for the help guys ..

 

Download "GPU-Z" and tell us what temps you get for gaming and idle.

Have you considered using a cooler?

You don't use it on your lap while gaming do you...?

 

I game on my laptop =) where to you get such a cooler... yesterday i order an USB cooler . You sit it up under your Laptop and then its cooling. It have 3 ventilators...

What u guys think i should do with this problem??

 

Well first of all, you should download GPU-Z of HWMonitor to read your temperatures. Both these programs will check the temperature of each of your parts so just record the temperatures while gaming to see if there are any problematic temperatures.

Also, clean out the vents and avoid gaming when the laptop is anywhere but on a solid surface such as a desk. This will reduce the chance of cloth or dust getting into the fans.

The cooler is a good idea and also think about elevating the back of your laptop just a bit with either a book or something. That 2-3cm will improve the air flow under the laptop and decrease the heat.

 

Hi, I googled this thread, and decided to register and post because I seem to have the same problem with my Pavilion dv5. It gets EXTREMELY hot.

Not 'wow, that's pretty warm, what's wrong with your computer?'

more like 'ouch, my lap' or 'wow, why is my desk burned?'

any idea why?

I have a warranty on it, and I could take it to best buy and have them ship it back to hp for a new one, or they'd repair the fan or whatever.

But I don't know if I feel like waiting for six weeks while they do that.

 

use HWMonitor to give us some numbers. saying "hot" is useless.

 

Of course its going to be hot there, I'm pretty theres a heatsink there. Especially while gaming. I lost a few finger prints by touching that area when I was heavily multitasking, I mean like watching hd video, running vm's, rendering.

 

a little of your system specs please? we can't find a decent solution if we didn't even know what type of gFx card you have.

i think mine goes up to 87C. havnt really measure the temps recently and i was suppose to open it up to do a bit of fan/vent clean.

 

Ive tryied to Under volted my comp. help a bit but if i place it on a table it gets hot. ive uploaded a pic when its on a table...

yours is better than me, dont worry too much : (MAX is when i was playing game)

 

if you have a amd branded processor your system may feel hot, due to the fact it takes more effort for your system to operate because amd is used for multimedia purposes (i have one, it gets fairly hot when the vent is covered) to solve this problem buy a cooling pad, or dont cover the vent lol

 

I used to have a dv9500 (pretty similar I suppose) and always had heat problems with it. When playing games such as COD4 I would get the BSOD and a forced shutdown after less than half an hour. As mentioned above, I found that elevating the back part helps a little, but getting a USB cooler is definitely the way to go.

Just be careful, with the cooler you get dust inside your laptop a lot faster, so you'll need to clean it more often. I would suggest buying a can of compressed air and cleaning it regularly.

I think there might also be a BIOS update that makes the fan run faster and for longer periods (due to some graphics card problems - if you have the 8400m or 8600m).

Well, you could try searching for updates with the HP Update program (which came already installed on the laptop). If you don't have that, the second option is to go to the HP website:

Just type in the product series and OS version, and it will give you all the updates available.

However, as I said in the previous post, I think such an update is only available for models with GeForce 8400m or 8600m video cards.

Go to the HP website and input the exact model number of your laptop, then on the next page the Windows version. Than look for the BIOS section on the page with all the updates.

No, wont work. The Intel cp would require a new motherboard and there doesnt exist one for the dv9000 for that particular cpu.

 

DARN!!! today i ran a test to see how hot i could get it. CRAZY MAN! 100 Celsius. Ive thinking to report it to the shop i bought it from... ive got some pics if someone wanna see.....?
