I have two laptops. one is dv6114tx and other is dv3005tx.

Dv6114tx has 80gb hard disk and dv3005tx has 250gb hard disk. Both of them have vista home premium and have partition c: & d: where d is the recovery partition.

I want to interchange hard disk of of these laptops. I have external hard disk.

can you tell me the procedure of changing the hard disk. so that i don't face any driver problem or any other problem and have working recovery partition in both of them after interchange.

will it help if i create image of both the laptop hard disk and save it on the external hard disk and then format the laptop hard disk and then install the image saved on the laptop hard disk (interchanged).

    or

can i change the hardisk and then run the recovery disk.

Unless both laptops use the exact same motherboards, you will need to install new drivers. Windows Vista will probably have most, if not all, of the required drivers already, but both computers will run MUCH slower until you format and re-install Windows on each one.

The image will work if you want your 250gb hdd to look and act like an 80gb hdd. Not sure about how it will go the other way around.

Any way you look at it, I'm fairly certain that you will need to re-format each hdd if you want your computer to work optimally.
