Before this last line of laptops, I knew HP had bad video cards in their laptops (most with 8400 GS at most I believe). But now theyve changed, and im not sure if they are good for games or not! Im not really going to buy an HP but I would really like if someone could clarify this to me. THanks!

The 9600M GT (found in the 15.4" dv5t and 17" dv7t) is a big jump up from the 8400M GS. The 9600M GT is a bit below the 8700M GT in terms of power, and can easily run modern games at mid-high.

i have ran COD4 at max settings and FSX at max settings and both games were very playable. I just wish there was a way to overclock the 9600m gt. But it is a good card.

I think it was just a bad batch of video cards Nvidia sent to Dell and HP, not sure all the details, but this was related to the 8800 gtx as for as I know, might of been 8800gts, hmmm not sure, but I wouldn't buy an HP for gaming, and if I bought a dell for Gaming it would be their 17in gaiming XPS notebook.

They were the NVidia GeForce 8 Series (8400M and 8600M specifically), not the 9 Series, so the 9600M GT should be fine.

The 9600m GT is excellent for gaming. It handled Vegas 2 at 50-60 FPS. On the 8600m GS (notch better than the 8400m GS) it only got 15-20 FPS.
GS = budget version
GT = better version
GTX = awesome
GX2 = ORGASMIC!!!!
Help me! Im confused!
