    Hello everyone,

First off, I want to thank everyone who posted thoughts/opinions here about the dv7t, your posts convinced me to go with a new dv7t qe laptop to replace my old gateway and so far I couldn’t be happier with it.

Anyway, I purchased the dv7t with the dual 160 GB SSD and 500 GB HDD. Not surprisingly, HP installed the OS on the HDD, but I want it on the SSD. Since I did receive a windows 7 installation disk from hp, is it as simple as installing the OS on the SSD and deleting it from the HDD, or is there more to it? Do I have to physically modify the hard drive connections in some manner? I read in a previous post about drive 0 and drive 1 but I was hoping someone could elaborate a little on what, if anything, needs to be physically modified to get the laptop to boot from the SSD.

    Any help/advice is greatly appreciated!

    Jason

To install the OS on the SSD, the first thing you'll want to do is change the boot order in the bios. You can do this by stating up the machine and tapping the F10 key. It will load into the bios, use your arrow keys to highlight the "boot" tab and there you can make changes. Once you make changes just hit the esc key and choose save with changes.

Your boot order needs to be like this.
    1. CD-DVD Drive
    2. SSD
    3. HDD

Once thats done put the disk in the drive load the windows 7 Install and simply Format the SSD, if you want(i'd recommend) the HDD also. Then you'll be starting with a blank slate. If you don't format the HDD it may keep the previous Windows 7 Installation and ask you to dual boot.
