    Hey guys,

So I repasted yesterday and ever since i've been having a few problems that I wouldn't mind having a few other heads to help me think and diagnose my problems.

Let me start with a bit of the back story... Envy 14, was getting very hot, idled at about 50C CPU and 40Cish GPU so I thought reapplying thermal paste would help it reach to October when I plan on buying something new. Happily took the machine apart (I did remove the CPU), everything went really well, applied the new paste and put her back together, went to turn her on... No power, completely dead

So after a bit of thinking and tinkering I decided the best thing to do was retrace my steps and make sure the CPU was seated correctly. Took it apart, everything looked fine but to make sure I took off the paste, removed the CPU, checked the pins etc and then reseated it

So it booted... but it doesn't boot everytime I press the power button and here are a few other problems I am having

    1) The CPU is ALWAYS running at near 100%, it never clocks down. Absolutely everything I do lags from the sound of Windows getting to the desktop, to writing this. It's awful. I know my i5-450M is old but I have an SSD and it's always been more than snappy especially for simple stuff. To give you an idea, it takes upwards of 5 minutes just to load Chrome. So there is something massively wrong here

    2) It doesn't boot everytime I press the power button - Again, never been a problem before but it is incredibly temperamental now

    3) It doesn't boot if the battery isn't plugged in - This is really odd because I know for a fact that my Envy could do this before I took it apart!

    4) In Windows, in my notification tray, it tells me that "No battery is detected" - I tried running the HP Battery test because I Googled others having this issue but it was no help. Odd thought if I remove the AC adapter then it does run on battery, it just doesn't tell me the battery is in nor how much charge it has

All these problems combined basically make my Envy now nothing more than a toaster! Haha. So i'd really love if anyone has any ideas or anything really that might be able to help! I'm pretty desperate!

(I will note, it doesn't appear that there are any loose cables floating about but if a certain cable not being plugged in correctly might cause any of these problems then I am more than willing to have a look)

Thanks for reading guys. I know this is a bit of a long one! (on the plus side HWMonitor does report lower temps haha!)

EDIT 1: I've attached a picture from HWMonitor, those clocks seem very wrong to me?

EDIT 2: Whilst backing stuff up i've noticed that USB transfer speeds are painfully slow too, <500kb/s

Try restricting the CPU Speed from power profile , i am running it to the least 1200mhz. . It works good on most use.
