    Hi All,
    Hi All,

Just to let you know I just found an incredible deal through my work on a Compaq laptop that about 6 people have done already
    Here it goes

    R3000Z series notebook

    Microsoft(R) Windows(R) XP Professional

    AMD Athlon(TM) 64 3700+ (2.40 GHz)

    15.4" WVA WUXGA (1920x1200)

    64MB NVIDIA(R) GeForce(TM) 4 440 Go +1394 & 5-in-1

    512MB DDR SDRAM (1x512MB)

60 GB 4200 RPM Hard Drive

    DVD/CDRW Combo Drive

    54g(TM) Broadcom 802.11b/g WLAN

    Microsoft(R) Office 2003 SBE

    12 Cell Lithium Ion Battery

Total out the door price $1300

Stupid question, will Photoshop and other graphics programs run ok on the AMD 64 platform as this is my main reason for purchasing it (I do not play any games) ???

If I do buy this laptop I will put a 60 gig 7200 hard drive in it also and 2 gigs of ram from Micron

Well what do you think ???

Is this a decent solution ???

I will moving from a 2 year old Dell Inspiron 8200
    P4-M 1.8 with 768 megs of ram PC2100
    64 meg ATI Raedon 9000
    60 gig 7200 Hitachi drive (main drive-O/S)
80 gig 5400 rpm ibm (modular bay-DATA STORAGE)
    orinoco gold b/g client card
    15" uxga screen (1600x1200 resolution)
    24x CDRW/DVD combo drive
    on board Firewire
    PCMCIA USB 2.0 card

Desktop performance is my main concern in what appears to be a 2d world
As I said I do not play any games,my wife however plays
casino, card and On-Line Pogo games which I also think is 2D also
Any suggestion will be most helpful !!!
    thanks in advance....shkj

Sounds like a nice deal to me. Be sure you want that ultra high res display though, some people find that to be tough on the eyes. As for your programs, they'll do very well on this machine.
