I am looking for a universal power adapter for my newly bought compaq r3000t (still on its way) to use in Europe. On HP web site, there is a 135W adapter for HP zd7000/zx5000/zv5000 and Presario R3000 series. However, I am scared by the dimension: 11.260 x 8.898 x 1.850" and 2.64lb! Can anyone tell me is this correct or a typo?

Another question is that the above adapter is $79 listed on HP site. However, another adapter with the same spec (135W 19V DC out) for NX9110 is only $57 with a dimension 1.1" x 5.2" x 2.3" and only 1.5lb.

Do you think I can use the smaller one for my R3000T? I know I may need to modify the DC output plug if it is different from R3000T. But that shouldn't be very hard, right?

Thanks for any comments on this.

    Frank

    FYI:

Here is the power adapter for NX9110, it listed for $49 on HP site (small business):

NX9110 seems also use regualr P4 processor...

    Your help is highly appreciated.

Why don't you just use the AC Adapter that comes with your notebook when it arrives? The AC Adapter is not that big, it's probably similar to the one for the NX9110. Maybe a bit larger.
Personally, I wouldn't go buy a different adapter and then dice it up to make it fit your system. You're just asking for your system to pop and fry.

I think HP gave you the dimensions and weight of the fully packaged 135W brick. The brick + cables weigh about 1-3/4 pounds and the brick is 7x2.5x1.5 inches (I just measured it).
