Hi im currently trying to overclock my compaq R4000 and nothing seems to work can someone tell me which programs to use and what to do in order to overclock my system. I have heard many times that it's not possible to overclock laptops but i've also seen a lot of posts online by people who successfully overclocked their notebook, so if anyone knows how, please tell me

    Compaq R4000:
    AMD Sempron 3000+ 1.8Ghz
    768 Mb Ram 166Mhz
    ATI Radeon Xpress 200M 128 Mb 300Mhz

as for cooling problems, i plan on buying a cooling pad (i've heard that they work really well) for my laptop and as for power i use my laptop as a desktop replacement so i dont' really have to worry about saving power.

    Thnx!

I won't recommend overclocking laptop. Check the temperature of your laptop when running at full power before overclocking to see if you have room before damaging your laptop. Laptop cooler helps but it may not be as efficient when the laptop generates too much heat. My DV4000 with x700 reaches 72C at full power when running video codec even with undervolting. If you ever want to overclock, remove the battery. It would help the heat to disperse and prolong the life of the battery.

by using my laptop as desktop replacement i just meant that i always have my laptop plugged in and i never use my battery. the temperature of my laptop is usually around 40C so i think i can overclock and get the pad but i still don't know how

    thnx
