    Help real quick! HP Vs Compaq

    I was looking at a couple of notebooks and I am only starting to get into the notebook world. Could you guide me in the right direction?

    Pavilion ZV5420CA Notebook
    -P4 Processor w/ hyperthreading
    -512 MB DDR SDRAM 60 GB HD
    -DVDSuperdrive
    -ATI Mobility Radeon 9000 IGP 128MB DDR
    -Wireless 802.11b/g
    -15.4" HD Widescrean

    VERSUS

    Compaq Presario R3440CA
    -AMD Athlon 64 Processor 3000+
    -15.4" HD Briteview
    -512 MB DDR SDRAM 80 GB HD
    -DVD Superdrive
    -NVIDIA GeForce 4 440 w/ 64 MB DDR
    -Wireless 802.11b/g

    they are the same price.
    the compaq is the better deal?

    Yep, the compaq is the better deal...Check out the specs to see if you get the 80gb 5400rpm hdd,its going to improve the performance tremendously over the standard 4200rpm hdd's

    The Compaq still will perform better than either the toshiba or the Hp..There is a key reason for this..both the toshiba A70 and the HPZV5420 use the Pentium 4.. The pentium 4 in laptops are not a good idea since they are inefficient thereby give out a lot of heat to get to that high MHz(3000MHz). Where as the AMD(1800mhz) and also the Pentium M's run at a very low frequency and hence inherently are more efficient.

    Between the three I would still choose the Compaq since you get more than what the others offer at the same price.
    BTW the speakers on the HP/Compaq is way better than the ones on the Toshiba.

    Go with the Compaq...You get a very good processor with a dedicated graphics rather than the power consuming and less efficient P4 based HP with the integrated graphics..

    The battery life on the Compaq will be around 2hrs(8 cell battery) and as for the HP you will probably be lucky to get around 1.5hr(8 cell).

    You do get a bigger Hd with the compaq..

    Whats the price difference between the two?
