I'm preparing to travel and I would love it to maximize my battery life on the plane and on the road. The only game I'd really be playing is Warcraft 3 so I dont think underclocking would effects its performance that much.

So my question is can someone give me advice on underclocking my dv4000 for a better battery life? It has 1.83 mhz, a gig of ram, x700.

Ive never done it before but would appreciate any help from anyone. Thanks.

Just use the software NHC/CHC, go to the software forum its on the first page. Pretty much if you follow the threads in that forum they will help you out its quite a simple software. I am playing Warcraft 3 under 4x multiplier at 510mhz lol with my 2.0 centrino Asus. Still runs it will at 1450 x 1050 with medium to high details. But for you, its going to be at 6x 800mhz because you dont have Power4Gear software.

P.S- I would also use SpeedFan

I downloaded NHC but I'm having a little bit of trouble using it. Should I be editing the CPU Speed or CPU Voltage? Or something else?

I switched the Max multiplers down from 14x to 8x but I'm not sure if that did anything. Should I be editing all these CPU Voltage things or just the top one?

    Any help would be appreciated.

Try RMclock, the utility that all of us Turion guys use. Its simple and powerful

I've tried both RMClock and NHC. I found the NHC to be better, at least for DV4000 with ATI x700. It also control the GPU clock. To extend battery life, you should first undervolt it at every speed. Then you choose Battery Optimized, Max. Battery, or Dynamic Switch in battery mode. There is a thread in www.dv4000talk.com with some suggested settings.
