I found a website, http://www.xpbargains.com/st_deals.php/HP_coupons.htm, that has coupons that are automatic. it says they ahve not expired and many other websites have identical offers but when i try to use the coupons, nothing happens. I click the link, customize and go to check out. and by the time i am on the last page where you enter a coupon code if you have one, the discount claimed on this site has still not appeared. am i doing something wrong? are there some restrictions to this rule i am not aware of? the dv6700t Special Edition is what i am attempting to buy. thank you.

These offers aren't really discounts. They just forward you to HP's site and give you the same discount you would have gotten had you gone to HP on your own. The only real discounts are the Coupons and Percent Off offers. You need to watch the coupon sites and jump on the best deal you can wait for. I believe the $500 off coupon or the 25 to 30 percent off are the best discounts HP offers.

so that price on the dv6700t Special Edition will go up after the 5th?

I haven't priced a dv6700tse in a while. HP always offers discounts off their "retail price". Just go to the HP website and customize the model you are interested in. This will get you the "regular base price" so to speak. I have noticed that this base price can vary at different times independent of the coupon discounts, sometimes significantly. When I started looking at HP the 17 inch models were more expensive than the 15.4 inch models for similiarily configured machines. When I bought mine the 17 inch model's prices had dropped and now were less than the 15.4 inch machines. The best discounts I have seen offered are the $500 off coupon and the 25 to 30 percent off offers. You have to monitor the coupon sites and depending on when you want to buy jump on the best deal that is currently available. If you buy a laptop and a better discount comes out in the 21 days after the delivery date, HP will refund the difference.
A long (2 week) $500 off coupon just finished the end of last month. I don't know when it will come out again.
This site has a good 'deal' section keep checking it regularily. -
I checked the HP website for the dv6700tse. That is the regular price. It may go up or down a little depending on how the components are configured on their next 'sale'. I don't think it will change appreciably unless you use a coupon or a percent discount. Sometime they make a major change in the component offerings and then there will be a price change.
Help using non coupon code discounts
