Im looking to upgrade my Celeron M 410 and I have been getting mixed answers from just searching around.

The most common threads are from Acer 3680 upgrades to Core 2 Duo 5200s and 5300s.

My laptop is a Persario v5209us. It was a bargain bin laptop from last years black friday.

CPU-Z says "i943/940gml". This is where the confusion starts.
Does that mean its the 943gml chipset from the 940gml family? Or is that backwards and its the 940 from the 943 family? If its the 940, I am pretty much screwed for updates as im probably locked down to celerons. If its the 943 chipset then I can probably upgrade to a Core 2 Duo or another Core Duo/ Pentium Yonah cpu (from what I have read.

Anyways, heres a couple cpu-z screenshots if it helps at all.

Edit: Sorry about the semi-broken links. The board wont let me post external web addresses because this is my first post.

Edit2: Nice.. somehow I registered my username as my email address. If an admin see's this, can they please remove the @gmail.com part? Thanks :)

I almost doesn't matter which 2 chipsets you have, both are practically the same.

It only accepts Celeron M processors. Up to 2.0Ghz and 533 FSB.

But this is where I get confused..
    forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=155958

Threads like this point that I can upgrade IF I have 943. Thats why I want to know beforehand so I can give it a shot. If its the 940gml, I probably wont waste my time.

Edit: I think I found my answer from the bios update notes from HP. I am using the current bios and a previous version has "Enhancements: Supports Intel Core 2 Duo Processor." in it. t5200 lookout lol.

Yep, if its the 943GML, you can upgrade all the way upto the T7600.

When you'll be upgrading, remove the heatsink off the chipset die, and read the code printed on it with a magnifying glass. It'll tell you for sure if the chipset is a 940 or 943.

The Acers had "motherboard code" stickers, which helped the users to differentiate between the 940 and 943 models.

The best CPU that the 940GML supports is the Intel Core Solo T1350 (alot better than a Celeron M ;)).

Yeah it is. I'm determined to upgrade this laptop. I just hope I can go all the way.
