I'm trying to connect my dv7t with the geforce 9600m to my hdtv via hdmi but the tv isn't picking up the signal. With my old dv9000, it recognized it right away and I didnt have to do anything. I can't check my control panel when I connect it because the laptop screen goes off and nothing else happens. I have dox's latest customized drivers if that matters.

Have you tried using the FN+F4 button for switching screens? :)

I just tried that and now I can use my laptop screen while having it connected to the tv but I can't seem to get the tv to work no matter what I do in the control panel.

When you go to the Nvidia Control Panel does it recognize that your TV is connected (under setup multiple displays)? I know some TV's simply wont work when connected to PC's even though they should work with any HDMI device. What model is your TV?

Ya it recognizes my tv. Its an older samsung 720p dlp tv about 2 years old. Like I said, it worked with my dv9000.

Ah sorry I missed that bit. Maybe try changing the HD signal to different settings (in the Nvidia Control Panel near the bottom). It may be trying to output an incompatible res. Otherwise your best bet would be to downgrade to 179.28 drivers. :)

I tried the 179.28 drivers and still having the same issue... Also, did HP take out the spdif port from the dv7 ?

I just hooked up my DV7t to a HDTV using HDMI for the 1st time last night. Using the Funciton F4 didn't work at first. This is what I did (going off of memory so the menu item names might not be exact)...
    1) right click on the desktop
    2) select 'Persionalize'
    3) selected 'Display'
    4) then change Monitor 2 (the TV) to be my main monitor

That worked for me & I was able to see the screen in full 1080P so I could play a Blu-Ray DVD.

You might still have issues since your TV is a couple years old & it might not "auto-sync" the resolution with your laptop. If that happens, then you might need to mannualy adjust the display resolution to a lower setting or to a 720P resolution (typicaly 1280x720).

    Hope this helps.
