    I have a Pavillion zx5190US.

When my battery charges up to 100%, the A/C kicks off and it starts running off the battery.

    It only does this sometimes.

I've also noticed that the fan closest to the power connector is no longer working.

Thoughts? Could the lack of fan/cooling be affecting the battery and charger?

Hmmm, this is unusual. Try calling HP sometime after Christmas an maybe they can do something for you (as long as you still have warranty). This shouldn't be happening.

Yeah, thats my next step. Sadly, I'm out of warranty. :(

I'm doing a complete reinstall today to see if maybe it's a software/driver issue. I'm pretty sure the battery is also shot (two years old, lots of outdoor use and travel). Can you bench test a laptop battery? :)
