I ordered the restore disks from HP. I upgraded my Hard drive to a Hitachi 7200 200gb drive. I restored the system, it created an empty recovery partition. I'm trying again tonight to see if maybe I got involve in the process before I should have. I don't want the partition anyway, I just want to make sure everything is properly restored and than I will delete it and all the crapware that I don't want.

Has anyone else experienced this type of issue?

Follow the clean install guide in the stickies. It'll be infinitely better than uninstalling bloatware.

There are actually a few programs that come with the computer that I like?

Then install them later from SWSetup.

I'm going to let this install finish to see if it works correctly, but I think tomorrow I will follow your advice.

Soo.... The hard drive you put in was Serial ATA? I was under the assumption that these computers took Sata drives. Please correct me if I am wrong! Thanks

Dude SATA is Serial ATA. I just finished getting it up and running. Took over four hours for the restore. Uninstalled all the crap and it runs great. I'll be doing upgrades after sleeping and we'll see how it goes.

I still really don't understand why people don't do a fresh install and they keep thinking that uninstalling the bloatware is the same thing as doing a fresh install.

I realize they are not one and the same, I just wanted to make sure the disks were good to go. I will start with just Vista if I have to restore again. You say do a fresh install instead of just uninstalling the bloatware. Please tell me the true benefits I will recieve. My system is running great.

Uninstalling programs keeps files in the registry, while clean installing allows you to control every aspect of what gets on your computer.

There are ways to clean the registry. As I said my computer runs just great.
