I've had my HP DV7 for a little over 3 years now. Around 9 months ago, I had a catastrophic failure, and had to reinstall Windows. I didn't have a Windows disc, so I used a friend's copy, and when I did apparently, I got rid of all my HP settings, including the HP Recovery Manager, that apparently connects to my recovery drive and accesses the base.wim file that allows me to do a complete factory reset. I would like to do a complete factory reset. But I don't know how to do it... can someone tell me how to do it, or make a disc from the base.wim file.

    I really need help!

    Thank you in advance.

    Hello and welcome to NBR.
Do you still have the recovery partition or have you formatted the drive?

If you still have the recovery partition and you haven't made any changes to the partition table, such as converting to dynamic MBR(even this is reversible), there is still hope.
For now plug your hard drive into another computer, tell us what are the partitions left on your drive and we can go from there.
