I have a HP Pavilion Notebook that I need help identifing. On the bottom of the monitor it just says "HP Pavilion" and there is no tag on the bottom that gives the model number.
I know it has an AMD K6 processor and a 6 gig harddrive, one floppy, and a DVD/CD player.
One thing rather unique thing is that it has controls for the DVD player on the outside front of the computer.
Anybody have any idea how I could find a new bios? Sound card drivers, etc???
Are there any other identifying numbers on the pre-2000 notebooks?
Thanks,
Larry

There are dv2000 notebooks... Where the model name/# normally is, there's a blank spot.... at the top where it says the notebook series that is the model name/#...
It will look something like this:
HP notebook dv2000 de se BTO
everything that comes after the dv2000 is considered that unit's unique model number. -
If it has an AMD K6 processor and a floppy drive, then it is most definitely not a dv2000. By "pre-2000" he is referring to an HP Pavilion built before the year 2000.

What color is the rear LCD cover? Purple or silver? What size is the screen?
Another way to find out is opening the ram cover, puling out the ram, and looking under it for an HP sticker, it will have a part # on it, possibly ending with '-001'... Once you foud that you can goto the link below and see what models that part belongs to.

I think I've found the Model number... it is a Pavilion N3250 Notebook PC.
I'm trying to put Windows 98SE on it and I'm have some problems... ( I'm using 98 because I tried 2000 and it was SLOWWWWW) Anyway, I need some drivers. The HP site doesn't offer much help for such an old unit. Where would I go to find video drivers, sound drivers, PCI communication drivers, etc.???
Help with pre-2000 HP Pavilion ...
