    Hello all
    Compaq A931NR laptop.

Last night I deleted Vista and installed Microsoft XP with all updates and service packs 2 and 3. I was able to get all drivers except my video drivers and my wireless device. The video works but probably at a low level. It shows default monitor and no info on the video adapter. I tried installing the drivers by searching on line with no success. My wireless device is not listed in the device manager. Is there any way to use the proper drivers even though I downgraded to XP? How would I get the drivers and how can I get my wireless device recognized? Thanks for any help

    Kevin

Thanks for the reply...I will try that if I cant locate the drivers. Is there any way I can tell what my monitor is or what the drivers should be so that I would know where to look for them. Thanks again

On a laptop you don’t need to know what your monitor type is just what GPU it is using. You can find that information in XP by going Start>All Programs>Accessories>System Tools>System Information then look under Components>Display. You will find your GPU type under Adapter Type and Adapter Description. i.e. NVIDIA GeForce 8400M GS

In the future if you want a program that will give more information about your system components you could try a free program like Everest Home Edition which you could get here: http://www.softpedia.com/get/System/System-Info/Everest-Home-Edition.shtml

    Thanks Deeastman,

I checked under componants, then display and it is a blank screen. All of the other catagories had information showing. What does that mean?

Possibly because it is an integrated driver, I really don't know.

I googled for the driver information and came up with this: (read the last post).
    http://forums13.itrc.hp.com/service...47627+1226798998825+28353475&threadId=1280554

You can apparently find all the drivers for XP here:
    http://fcomolina.diinoweb.com/files/Drivers XP Compaq-A931NR.rar
    password: panchomolina

I downloaded the file and took a look at it. Don't let the Spanish overtone deter you, the files are the same in any language. I am sure you can work through it.

You use a free program "Winrar" to unrar the file after download in case you didn't know.
