Can anyone help me solve an issue I have, regarding video playback. Whenever I watch a video file on my HP DV6T, the playback seems rather grainy.

The video playback seemed much more clearer of a picture on my dv5z, and I am wondering if it has to do with the resolution.
Could this be because of the 16" 1366x768 resolution?

Is there anything I can do to fix this issue?

All I want is to be able to watch my movies or video files FULL SCREEN, and in good video quality. Please Help!

Could be the screen itself. I mean, the resolutions between the dv5 and dv6 series aren't that different. I'm guessing your dv5 was 1280x800?

Are you using the same video player? It could be the graphics cards? Are they different? It could also be the screen. Some people have complained about graininess on their screens itself.

What are the specs of your old dv5, more importantly, the graphics, screen resolution.

    Old dv5z:

    AMD Turion processor (1.76ghz)
    3 gig ram
    128meg ATI Radeon HD3450 I believe

    dv6t:
    Intel dual core 2.13ghz proc
    4gig ram
    ATI Radeon HD4650, 1GB Ram

The resolution I do believe was what you mentioned, but I'm entirely sure.

Everything else looks perfect on this laptop - from Games to desktop. Also, cartoon videos show up perfectly.

Could it perhaps be the videos themselves? They are usually the 600-800meg version.....but I could have sworn it was better on the dv5z

You will need to use a known high definition source to test the display. Perhaps something like the hi def Transformers 2 trailer.

Tell us if that looks grainy, and if so, we can go from there.

Those 600-800 meg movies are usually low resolutions, and bumping them to full screen will make them grainy. What you could do is watch far away from your PC and it'll look a lot better since you're far away.

Usually the resolutions on those types of videos are around 640x340. About 1/3 to 1/4 the screen resolution. It all depends on the resolution of the movies.
