I've recently done a clean install on my hp dv2500. Whenever I turn on the computer or take it out of sleep/hibernate, once it turns on it momentarily flashes black before coming back on. Its not that big a deal, but I'd prefer it not happen. I think that *maybe* its related to the wireless internet, because this most recent time, it blacked out and came back on right as the laptop was connecting to the internet (but I'm not sure if this is certain).

Also, I've sometimes noticed that the screen takes on this greenish-yellowish-blackish tinge when it boots up...its hard to describe what else happens, but it looks like you would expect if colored liquid evaporated very quickly from the screen, leaving it totally black (as it should be at that time). Anyone know anything about that, either? Maybe I should contact HP

Also- this isn't related to the above problem, but I'd like to post a list of what I have running at startup according to msconfig. The only reason I'm bothering is because some items appear multiple times (like Microsoft Windows OS, which appears three times):

    Windows Defender
NVIDIA Driver Helper Service, Version 101.19
NVIDIA Compatible Windows 2000 display driver
    NVIDIA Media center library
    Alps pointing-device driver
    cognizance identity and acess management
hp digital imaging - hp all-in-one series (I have no idea what this is or why its on the computer still)
    Quickplay
    Quick launch buttons
    HP Health check scheduler
    Microsoft Windows OS
    Microsoft Windows OS
    Microsoft Windows OS

    Thanks for your help!

I have the same problem with the screen blacking out for a second sometimes. I am not exactly sure what causes it but I think it is related to the video driver. Does anyone one else know for sure what causes this problem?

Did you, by chance, do a clean install also?

Yes, I did. But, I noticed it even before I did a clean install.

I have a dv6500, and this also happens to me at startup. my screen will go blank for a 1/4 of a sec. it just looks like a black flash on startup. the funny is this sometimes flashes twice. i like to monitor my system so i have perfmon in my startup folder.
