Hewlett Placard has been selling laptops claiming that they are Intel latest notebook processor offerings the Core2Duo brand name but instead show specs of the previous generations of Intel’s Notebook Processors.

HP India has been selling the dv2119TX Entertainment Notebook claiming it has a Intel Core 2 Duo Processor that runs at 1.6 GHz has 1 MB Level 2 Cache and a bus speed of 533 MHz.

As far as my knowledge goes I was sure that all the Core 2 Duo notebook processors ran at 667 MHz bus speed and have a minimum of 2 MB to 4 MB L2 Cache. So I decided to check at Intel.

    Well I was right! Scammers!

You are not right. Intel did produce Core 2 Duo at 1.6ghz, but didn't offically anounce. HP US has the same option for hp dv2000t

The T5200 is a Core 2 Duo. No scam. the bus and clock speeds are the same as you have mentioned(533MHz, 1.6GHz). It is a OEM only processor, so you wont find specs for it on Intels website.

The T5200 isn't that bad by any means. Most processors have too much power anyway, and you get what you pay for (meaning you got a nice machine for less $$$ that will suit you perfectly fine).

The closest Core 2 in terms of speed is the 1.66GHz@667 T5500. AFAIK, the difference should amount to less than 5% faster give or take a little.
