If your system shipped with XP, then the SwSetup folder should only have XP drivers in it. Those drivers under Vista can cause some issues, and some (like Bluetooth and graphics drivers) can cause major problems for Vista.

My recommendation is to boot into safe mode, use the programs control panel to uninstall the entire Bluetooth package, and reboot. Hopoefully, Windows will reinstall Bluetooth using the Microsoft drivers, and then you should be able to install the new Vista version of the Bluetooth drivers which you can get off the support page at HP for your notebook (or in the stickied HP Vista drivers thread here). I would also update your other drivers to the truly Vista-compatible versions for best system performance and stability.

As for installing .cab files. Cab files are compressed files that aren't executable. Some kind of .exe, .msi, or .inf file should accompany .cab files to properly install. You can use a program like WinRAR to extract the contents of a .cab file, but you really shouldn't ever need to, and doing so won't actually install anything.

    Hope that helps.

hey thx a lot JadedRaverLA ;) but for .cab files it's not a question of drivers . i wanted the dreamscene extra for windows ultimate but i can't get the windows update so i download it manually but the missing part is that i don't know how to install it in my system ! hope that you help me . i'm really amazed by vista dreamscene ! ;)

EDIT : hey jadedraver LA i can't uninstall the bluetooth package ! i tried everything even messing up with the registry and the system32 folder but no result . everytime i try to install the new bluetooth driver for vista it says to me that a later version is already installed in this machine . setup cannot continue !!!! but i have nothin on my machine . plz help me how to figure this out !
