    hey all,

im really happy that i switched back to windows xp and everything is running great..except my computer wont hibernate...or shutdown properly sometimes.

it will close all applications and then go to the windows xp blue screen (not a BSOD) and then just sit there. i have to resort to forcing the computer to shut off by holding down the power button.

i have the Nvidia video card and windows XP service pack two.

any help would be greatly appreciated

    thanks!

First, have you enabled hibernation under the power properties?

Second, there's a lot of patches been issued for XP since SP2. Some specifically address sleep and hibernation issues. The full list of patches is here, while searching for "XP hibernation" gives a somewhat shorter list.

    yes, hibernation is enabled.

all the patches you linked to bring up and error stating that they are older than my service pack.

    thanks for the help though
