I have an HP 8510p. Quite recently it has started to exhibit an odd behavior when I attempt to resume from hibernation or standby. Most usually I get a blue screen as the computer is booting up. I haven't yet noted all of the info down, but the relevant parts (as best I can tell) is that the file win32k.sys is involved and the issue appears to be a "page fault in a non paged area."
Can someone please tell me what the relevant information I need on these blue screens might be and where I might go to begin tracking down what the actual problem is?
The 8510p is the 2 gig model and has 2 gigs of RAM. I'm running XP Pro with SP2. This behavior started a bit over a week ago. I've added no new hardware, nor have I changed any of the device drivers. The OS is on a separate partition that I don't mess with as a rule.
Thanks in advance for any advice!

Try flushing the hibernation file.

Thanks very much for the response, flipfire. Going to go look up how to do that right now, and will keep my fingers crossed.
-
-Open the Windows Control Panel
-Double-click Power Options
-Click the Hibernate tab, de-select the 'Enable hibernate support' check box, and then click Apply.
-Restart your computer and hiberfil.sys will be automatically deleted.
Reverse the procedure to Enable hibernate support and it will build a new file. -
flipfire and deeastman, thanks very much for the advice and info. Unfortunately, this didn't solve the problem. However, I think that I've figured out what's happening. It seems that something on this computer doesn't like Rainlendar or Sysmetrix (not sure which, yet) being invoked at startup after hibernation or standby. Disabling both at startup allowed me to hibernate and resume with no bluescreen. The interesting thing, though, is that the problem doesn't occur if they have been started after boot. Only if they were part of the original startup queue. Thanks again.
Hibernation and standby causing bluescreens?
