Hey everyone!
First of all, these boards and the members seem very friendly and helpful.. so thank you!
My notebook specs:
- HP dv2125nr
- AMD Turion X2 64 1.6ghz
- Geforce Go 6150
I installed a non-OEM version of Windows XP over the existing "OEM Windows" that came with HP... now the Universal Audio Architecture does not install (will always close after loading setup files in setup.exe).. HP.com chat representative said it's because UAA is not tested in non-OEM Windows XP, so I they refuse to help me...
I, personally, think HP drivers should work on all versions of XP, regardless of whether or not they are "OEM." bah!
What can I do about this? Is there any universal audio driver or any back-way that I can go to get stinkin' audio on my notebook!? Reinstalling windows is a last resort, and I'd rather not!
Thanks for any help!

Hello Ryan, and welcome to the forums..
What the HP tech told you is entirely wrong. There is no difference in build, I will spare you the details, just download the UAA Bus Driver from here:
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareList?os=228&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&product=3177435&lang=en
followed by the High Definition Audio driver right on top of it on the same page ofcourse.
Make sure to uninstall all previous traces/ installations. -
??? I have been able to install/run EVERY other driver from HP but whenever I try the UAA driver it does this same exact thing (close right after setup starts loading).
Is this a problem with UAA? If this doesn't work, is there a way around installing the setup.exe file? (like, a manual way, or some other installer) ??? -
Just uninstall the driver/hardware under system/device manager and re-boot. The system should be able to re-install the proper device/driver when doing so.

It is that simple you must be doing something wrong. After you uninstall the previous failed installations, go into device manager and uninstall it, then refresh it will appear probably with a ( ? ) next to it, the install it.

Sometimes the simpliest way of fixing things is the best. You have to start with the basics and then go on from there. It wouldn't hurt and besides it might actually work! Good luck.

I have the same model as you and I haven't had any problems. So the Driver you tried to install was downloaded from hp.com? If not go hp.com and get the driver for XP. I am currently using Vista and so far I haven't had no problems.
