    Hey all,

Just wondering if anyone who has a dv6t has noticed an abnormal usage for this service?. It seems to only get higher the longer i keep the laptop running. If i restart it fixes the problem but it is still annoying. Anyways check the screenshot i took to see what i mean.

Thanks but i already have the latest drivers installed, its a pet peve of mine, problem still exsists. Also cpu usage is not the problem, its memory usage. This seems to be a fairly old problem, back in 09 is when it started to appear.

Is this the actual audio driver or just an associated audio program that comes with dv6? You should try just deleting it and either use windows update to find a driver or find out the hardware id of your device and get a driver straight from the manufacturer of the audio device. Another dv6 owner would be able to help you more than I can but I think one of those two options should work.

Let me know if you need more specifics.

Hello, I'm not sure. I would suggest doing what micman said, as the name on the task manager on mine is the sttray64.exe and and uses around 1,372k.

The file is located within program files/idt/wdm so id say its a program that was installed with the audio driver package. I ended the process and i still have sound so i am unsure as to what it is for, but i don't want to just go and delete it as it may be something important lol. From what i have read though the program has a memory leak problem and hp has not fixed it yet and this goes back to 2009 lol.
