For anyone who has experienced the high-pitch buzz on their dv1000, does changing your Power settings make the buzz go away?

the most significant variation i hear is only in the 'always on' and 'max battery' power schemes. instead of stuttering noise, it changes to nearly constant in these 2 schemes only. muting or changing the volume of any of the levels has no effect.

- Try changing to Notebook/Laptop Setting in the Power Management options.
- You can also try plugging in a USB device (keyboard, mouse, USB memory key) that draw power from the port (connecting a printer that is on will also work, just make sure the printer is on).
- A user posted a while ago about disabling the Power Management feature of the USB ports in Device Manager and that fixed his problem.
I had this problem in my NX7000 Pentium M notebook that I returned because of this exact same problem. It turned out to be a capacitor or resistor (can't remember, was almost a year ago) that was making the noise. HP's solution was to put glue on top of the cap/res that was causing the problem. I don't know if this fixed the problem or not as I returned my notebook since this wasn't a solution I was comfortable with. Give the 3 listed things a try and see if the problem goes away, if not, you may want to contact HP about this and see if they have a solution. You may want to mention the NX7000 was also causing this problem.
