So it seems that my Envy recently developed a popping sound from the left channel. It's very high pitched and occurs randomly, and disappears on occasion for a few seconds. I'm thinking it's the sound card going out, but I just wanted to know if anybody else is experiencing this, because it might have to do with my sound card power settings or something like that.

I originally blamed it on my amplifier but now that I've switched amps the high-pitched popping is still there, left channel only.

    Disabling devices does no good.

I wonder how I'm going to get HP to replace this, because it's not very easy to hear but once it's heard it's impossible to unhear...

Both when connected to AC and on battery?

How is the amp connected to the laptop? Is there a DAC in between the two?

    Wow

It's PSU noise, no popping on battery.

Hmm, I'll probably have to replace it. PSU is beginning to crackle pretty loudly under load...

Wonder why it's only the left channel, though.

Edit: switched over to a compatible dell adapter for now. No popping at all
