First i want to thank you for reading my post and trying to help a fellow forum member and hp fan.

I will give you the story on how my dv2000 broke, i was coming into my room with the dv2000 closed in hand and the door was about half way open when the front edge of the door caugt the back right hinge of my 2007 may bought dv2000.. Now there is a scrape on that hinge and when i try to turn on the laptop after this incident the screen stays black the laptop powers up as in all the blue lights turn on you can hear the fan running as usual than about 3 seconds in you here 3 distinct loud beeps from the speakers? I dont know if this is a signal about whats gone haywire but if i do about 20 shut downs and restarts the screen will turn on occasinally and the system will work albiet very warm because of all the restarts.

My laptop is out of the 1 year warranty and im not going to send it to hp which after i called them would cost about 100 for them just to talk to me and 400 labor, and what ever more to replace the part ie damaged.

Now my question is does anyone have any clue whats wrong or how i should fix this problem im sure the screen is not the issue since it will work occasionally but its something in that hinge maybe the wiring sending the picture from the videocard is damage or cut?

Oh i am currently on my xps1530 which i bought after this whole fiasco i need laptop because my dv2000 was my only computer after i fix it i plan to sell it to recoup some money.

    Thanks

could it be the impact that caused the disconnection of the cables?

Good news, your notebook may be under Hp's enhanced coverage plan for certain notebooks. HP basically had overheating issues with these laptops and extended coverage due to abnormally high failure rates. The following link is for the covered models. http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&docname=c01300427#c01300427_dv20 Some dv2000 laptops included!
Talk to hp tech support about your problem, and don't mention the physical damage to your laptop. In fact, don't even mention hitting it to the door. Say that the notebook just randomly went out. And see if they will repair it. If they say yes, then send it in. If they ask about the mark, then say it was always there from earlier times so they don't link the cause to the mark. And try and negotiate for a fix since your notebook is within the same family of notebooks that have enhanced coverage. The key is arguing your case! Try multiple calls and attempt to do it over the online chat support as well as phone support.

You have one of the criteria to get the warranty service: "There is no video on the computer LCD panel or external monitor." I guess all you need is the right product number.

I do need some info from you though, could you provide the specs of your laptop? Did it have a nvidia gpu? What processor?
