Has anyone installed a Hitatchi 7200RPM hard drive on a Pavilion dv2500t? I'm thinking about replacing the 5400RPM hard drive that came with my dv2500t but I wanted to know if anyone had any experience in using the Hitatchi 7200RPM since I hear it generates a lot of heat. Thanks.

I don't know. I personally dont have it in my laptop but I am going to install it in a few weeks. I have been trying to get as much info as possible on this. My laptop is not the same as yours but my potential HDD will be. I have read that some laptops dont have a noticeable heat increase. SOme same say it runs even cooler. I mean every where I have read I have seen the same.

i would expect more heat since it will spin faster which needs more power.

    ??

the spinning is inside the drive case, which is watertight closed (if only a piece of dust could enter, then the drive will break), so no air can flow inside/outside...only more heat will be transferred to drive case and then to laptop case..

since the 7200 drive spins faster it also means it spins for a shorter length of time.
5400's take a little longer to find their data which equals more heat.
