Did you really send your last dv6 back just because of the switchable graphics issues which are driver related?

His problems seemed to be hardware-related, as he had the same drivers as everyone else and couldn't get the Radeon working despite numerous attempted solutions.

That said, Dave, I would encourage you to reorder and bear with the switchable graphics until AMD improves the drivers. You really won't find a laptop with these stats for the same price, and it is (miraculously) both thinner and cooler than other laptops in its class.

Actually, he could wait for the next refresh which is pretty much in like 5 months. And have the finalized or improved version to BACON for the AMD graphic 7000M series.
It pretty much going to hold similar price point now for the dv6 in the future and have better odds of support for the driver issue.

the second level tech had conferred with his people and came to the conclusion that mine was hardware related, rather than the typical problem with auto switching. I tend to agree. Regardless of the source of the problem, the unit was useless to me without the Radeon. I don't buy anything with the hope that fixes will be coming down the pike. It has to work immediately or I return it.

dave, best of luck with whatever you decide to go with! you're always welcome back to the DVxT fold, should you not find anything better that suits you. I looked far and wide for months, before I decided on the DV7TQE. The only thing that made me hesitate was the lack of the FHD screen, and as soon as it popped up with a 30% off coupon as well, I couldn't say no. I shopped the HP Envy, Asus, Sager, MSI, and several of the barebones (Clevo or MSI based) builds, and while they are also great values and performance, I still kept coming back to the DVxT's as the best value for what you get. No regrets here!

thanks! After having the HD screen for just a few days, and the general speed of the unit, I can't imaging getting anything different. I want HP to fix the darn graphics issues quickly, so I can reorder a DV6!
