Hey everyone I just ran hardware sensors monitor and my CPU temps are running fine - Core 1: 47C, Core 2: 48C

However, I have two HDDs - one is 63C (my primary system drive) other is 44c

Here's the big problem though, temperatures for Graphgic adapters: GP - 86.0C - this is REALLY REALLY HOT! How can I bring this down? I never play games or anything so I don't need it to be on full performance

    I have a

do you have vista? if so put your computer in power saver or balanced mode.

also search for gophn's notebook cleaning guide to clean out your vents.

Also, if you know what you are doing, you might want to replace the GPU and CPU 'paste' that HP puts on them, and replace it with some Arctic Silver 5. It has been proven to lower your temps from 5-12*C. I'm sure the hot pipe-line might be running close to the HDD, causing the heat to transfer off.

Before you crack open your notebook, try installing the latest BIOS update from hp.com. It'll run the cooling fan more aggressively.

Your first HDD is overheating, either windows is thrashing it or something is using it heavily. The operating temps should be below 55c on a HD. Im suprised it hasnt given you a SMART warning yet

    As above,
    -Update BIOS first
-Clean the fans if you can
    -Invest in a cooler

You already PM'd me about undervolting but im afraid will only lower CPU/GPU temps. Your HDD is what is causing most of the noticable heat of your notebook

Ok thanks guys, maybe I should use a more reliable tool? Is Hardware Sensors monitor not the best? I have used compressed air in all of the vents and also updated the BIOS to F.2C (the most recent one). Still same temps- also, not comfortable enough with opening up the notebook to change around hardware. It's not like I overuse the HDD at all - it's about 1/4 full and is hot even when im running nothing!
